Chair of Shropshire Scouts Trustee Board Vacancy

Date: 9th Jul 2024 Author: Eddie Hulme

Over the next few years, we will be transforming the way we work, embracing a digital culture and ensuring improved support for our volunteers. Alongside this we have ambitious plans to grow the number of young people that we support not just through our existing provision but also across the many different communities within the Shropshire area.

Our existing Chair has decided to stand down at the AGM in September. We are therefore looking for a new Chair to guide the trustee board.  We will be looking to harness your experience and wisdom as we drive forward with our exciting plans for the future.

The chair role includes:

• Leading the Trustee Board. • Planning meetings and agendas. • Leading Trustee Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM). • Liaising with Lead Volunteers. • Leading recruitment for new Trustees. • Supporting other Trustees by organising inductions, making reasonable adjustments (where needed), checking in to see how they’re getting on, and carrying out annual reviews.

For more information please reach out to County Lead Volunteer for a chat about the role and how you can help build a better future for young people in Shropshire delivering skills for life.  Closing date for this application is 31st August 2024, however we may be looking to appoint trustee to shadow the existing Chair in the interim.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
