Appointment of Scout Commissioner – Shropshire Scouts

After an extensive and comprehensive national volunteer appointment process, I
am pleased to announce that Eddie Hulme has accepted the role of County
Commissioner for Shropshire Scout County effective from 1st May 2022.
I would like to thank Adam ‘Dexter’ Williams for over 5 years of service as
County Commissioner. Dexter has been enthusiastically supporting young
people’s opportunities and enabling volunteers alike.

Dexter has steered Shropshire Scouts through the huge challenges presented by
the pandemic COVID-19 and has led Shropshire’s plan to deliver better futures
through our strategic vision #Skills4Life – whilst also being one of the key
supporters of Shropshire Scouts Jamboree contingent and helping a number of
National initiatives that will be rolled out in the coming few years.

Thank you Dexter for being a positive role model. Your unassuming approach
and relentless passion; enthusiasm and unquestionable supportive approach
across the Membership in doing the right thing and upholding the Values of
Scouting within Shropshire has not gone un-noticed.

Dexter is already in discussion with Eddie regarding handover and continuing
support over the next month which again I would like to thank him for.
Eddie is well known to many both within the County, across the West Midlands,
and Nationally. Eddie is eager to re-connect with members across Shropshire
in his new role and will be spending the next few weeks meeting both County,
District and Group members at various up-and-coming events and generally
getting up-to-speed with the successes and challenges.

When initial visits are complete in a few months, Eddie will confirm the
County team, and the intention is to hold various discussions and
consultations as widely as possible and to take as many views and suggestions
into account for the future chapter of the Shropshire Scout County.

Please join me in congratulating Eddie, and thanking Dexter for his service,
as I am sure we all wish both Eddie and Dexter well in their new Scouting
chapters and will give them our generous support through this initial
transition.
