Cave and Mine Exploration SASU

Shropshire Scouts Cave and Mine Exploration Scout Active Support Unit can support your section in a number of ways:

Have A Go

You can book the Team for a two-week Have a Go session.

Typically this looks like a week at your meeting place with a presentation covering how caves are formed, the type of equipment and how to go caving safely. Then in the second week we normal take a section down Llanymynech ancient mine.

We can of course tailor the session to meet your needs – but we can get your young people underground!

Permit Training

The Team can support anyone (including Explorer Scouts) who would like to work towards a Caving or Mine Exploration permit.

Caver Badge

An extension to the Have a Go session, a similar format over a couple of weekends culminating in a weekend caving down in South Wales. Details will be shared directly with Leaders.

Have you already achieved your activity badge? Why not go for an activity plus badge!

Be an instructor

If you develop a love for caving, you could help others in your section enjoy the sport and reach their full potential! You could work towards the instructors badge if you are in Scouts or Explorers.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
