Youth Shaped scouting is at the heart of what we do, and you can have a direct involvement with ensuring this is the case.
Scouts is a large global organisation and by large I mean HUGE. There are in excess of 31 million scouts in 216 countries. As you can expect there is a structure which flows from an international scale right down to a troop level.
Our Executive Committee Needs You!
Hang on a moment, I know what that sounds like but hear me out. Shropshire Scouts is managed by a executive committee, this is a group of people who make decisions for the county, and anyone can be a part of it. However, if you’re aged between 18 and 25 then we specifically want you!
As previously said, Shropshire Scouts wants to lead from the front in terms of youth focused scouting and your voice on our committee would be invaluable in achieving this aim. Being a trustee member of the exec will ensure that any ideas you or your peers have can be voiced and acted upon, no matter how big or small it may be.
*Depending on whether provided for by the county commissioner**
**that being said he’s not let us down yet!
It’s Not A Big Commitment
Honestly, it’s not; the exec meets once a month, it can either be face to face or you can join us remotely via zoom (Though you may miss out on the free biscuits*). We meet for around an hour and it’s a very relaxed environment. Not only will you see another side of scouting and have your voice heard, you will also be able to say you have sat on an executive committee of a major charity, it’s a unique opportunity and a real highlight for on a CV or university application
The Structure of the Exec
The executive committee is comprised of:
- Chair
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- County Commissioner
- County Youth Commissioner
- Youth Representative
- Trustees

It really is a unique opportunity, if you have any questions or are interested in maybe coming along please email the County Youth Commissioner at tom.cambidge@shropshirescouts.org.uk
